A Personal Unraveling
Before embarking on this journey nine years ago, I was paralyzed to “go for my own dreams” paralyzed by fear—fear of ridicule, especially self-ridicule. I lived life held back, creatively unexpressed, believing I wouldn’t be good enough because I had been creating my entire life for others, never for myself. But then, a shift occurred. A perfect stranger confronted me as I expressed hesitation to follow my intuition and launch One Golden Thread: “We are on this planet for three reasons: To learn, to love, and to share. And if you are not sharing your gifts, you are being selfish. So quit being so fucking selfish.” As this stranger turned and walked away—I never got his name—his 33 words hit me like an anvil between the eyes. “Oh, shiiiiit,” I remember whispering to myself, as I felt the melting shift. When we share, we are not being selfish, egoic & narcissistic; we are doing what we are meant to do—not to be good, but to be liberated and free. And in doing so, we inspire others to do the same for themselves. I let go of resistance to those fears and instead embraced them—designing for me, firstly, driven by pure joy, curiosity, and wonder. Today, when others feel the integrity of that creation, it’s a testament to authentic energy—not a mere imitation.
My hope in sharing is it (re)lights a spark in you to unleash and (co)create.
