A LETTER FROM JEFF
Hey Golden Ones,
Lately, I’ve been overcome with both gratitude and emotion.
For two reasons.
One I’ll share now.
The other… at the end.
For years now, I’ve been humbled by conversations that have found me.
Some arrived in emails.
Some in handwritten notes.
Many happened while standing together in our Venice Flagship.
The kind of moment where someone quietly pulls me aside and says,
“Can I share something with you?”
Those conversations stay with me.
One came from an autistic touring rock drummer who shared that One Golden Thread is all he wears because the fabric calms his nervous system while the fit invigorates his senses enough to lose himself on stages.
Another audacious came from a Brand Fan from New York who told me this story:
“I was new to the brand walking down the street from my Wall Street job and out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a golden thread moving the other direction across the street.
The strangest thing came over me.
I told the person I was speaking to that I had to call them back, and I found myself crossing the street, walking up to the person saying, ‘ONE GOLDEN THREAD?’
We struck up a conversation and this person is now a confidante and friend.
It’s what led me to reach out to you.
And why I invested, as I can’t think of one other brand on the planet that I would’ve walked up to somebody to connect.
I couldn’t explain it then… and frankly, I still can’t.”
Each one of these leaves me in awe.
Dropped jaw.
Over the years…
Creators.
Filmmakers.
Artists.
Entrepreneurs.
Athletes.
Musicians.
Soccer moms.
So many have shared deeply personal reflections about what these threads have come to mean in their lives.
Lately, it started to feel inauthentic to keep those stories to myself.
Because they’ve touched something too deep in me not to share.
These aren’t really stories about clothing.
They’re stories about people remembering…
…and revealing…
…who they are.

We’ve never really been making clothing.
We’ve been weaving reminders.
Reminders of the gold that was always inside us.
Someone recently asked me what business I’m really in.

I see this spotlight series becoming a regular part of The Thread.
Not because you need to hear more from me.

Music turned up.
Long-table dinners.
Every August, tens of thousands of people build a city in the desert that disappears a week later.
Not because disappearing is the point.
Remembering is.
You don’t have to go to the desert.
Just step outside the default world.
Leave your phone in your pocket.
Look someone in the eye.
Take the long walk.
Watch the sunset become the stars.
Collect stories.
Get dusty.
Laugh harder.
Wear the good shirt.
There is no special occasion.
This is it.

God, I love music.
